Architect
There is an opportunity for an Architect / Senior Architectural Technologist to join the Mission Critical Facilities / Data Centres or Industry Advisory Groups in the Cape Town / Johannesburg / Umhlanga office of Royal HaskoningDHV.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead architectural design development on projects
- Create and/or modify existing architectural designs and models
- Undertake Master Planning for Greenfields and Brownfield industrial developments, considering, among others, process, and logistics flows
- Undertake both design and BIM coordination
- Prepare / assist with reports, technical drawings and specifications and tender documentation
- Ensure that all quality system procedures are followed in the production and issuing of designs, costing, drawings, and standard details at discipline level within the Advisory Group
- Regular contact and communication with the project team
- Guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level architects
- Ensure that work is done in accordance with acceptable standards of both Royal HaskoningDHV and its Clients
- Engage with clients / external stakeholders with respect to architectural discipline on aspects including project delivery, business development, client relationship management etc.
- Undertake design and project management in alignment with Royal HaskoningDHV Digital Ways of Working (DWoW), and be a champion for the DWoW programme within project teams
- Maintain records in accordance with internal quality system; and
- Other functions related to the role that may arise.
Minimum qualifications, skills, and experience:
- M.Arch / B.Arch / B.Tech Degree or equivalent in Architecture
- Professional Architect (Pr.Arch) or Professional Senior Architectural Technologist (Pr.S.Arch.T) with SACAP is essential
- Registration with SA Institute of Architects (SAIA) is an advantage
- 5-10+ years post-qualification experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment
- Mentorship experience is required
- Experience in Brownfields and Greenfields developments – focus on industrial and mission critical facilities / data centres is advantageous
- Appropriate knowledge of local and international standards and codes – focus on industrial and mission critical facilities
- Experience working and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
- Experience working and collaborating in virtual team environment
- Experience in master planning of industrial sites and buildings, incorporating process flows and coordination
- BIM and Revit proficiency (advanced level) are mandatory and will be assessed. Certificates are beneficial
- Navisworks, Enscape and Revizto plus Photo-shop capability is an advantage
- Knowledge of Dynamo, Python, and other ways to automate workflows are highly beneficial
- Experience with Common Data Environments and other relevant platforms
- Ability to liaise with relevant stakeholders on all levels
